Here is a little peek at a painting I just finished. I'm calling her "Cecily", I read the name in a book recently and thought it was lovely. A pretty name you dont hear too often.

I really didn't have too much of a plan for her when I began, and therefore the painting is packed full of my favorite little odds and ends--- a slightly spooky Queen Anne style doll, a little white church tucked in the back with a discreet grave yard off to the side. I didnt even realize this painting would be done as a night time scene, until I started painting the sky and decided it really needed stars.

And so. This is what came of all that. Hope you like it :)

You can find the painting HERE.

  1. I absolutely adore Cecily and that is such a pretty name too! She suits the name Heather and is so pretty in a thoughtful way....I also think the stars are a great addition to the painting!

Your work is so good, so different and full of feeling and soul, I love it all! Do you do commissions for humble people like me? It's wonderful!

  2. The night sky is the PERFECT touch, and I adore hearing the stories behind your paintings.

  3. Cecily is absolutely beautiful! I love that touch of eeriness that comes out... great choice with the dark sky there! I think sometimes the best work are achieved from very little planning. :)

  5. I'm playing blog catch up today so if you have a hundred msg's from me thats why lol ;)

I love her hat, it looks perfect against the night sky and her dress is wonderful!

  6. Oh my, she is gorgeous. You are so talented, Heather. Wow. I love the art process! I love that you start out thinking you're going to do one thing (or not knowing at all) and it morphs and grows into a whole other thing! The fact that it's a night scene makes it special. Love it.

  7. She's fabulous, Heather! I love how she has the same hat as her dolly. :) I also like the slightly spooky feel to it. :) Great job!
