You may know me from my previous art business, Audrey Eclectic. I'm growing in some new directions lately, so a little business revamp seemed in order.
So welcome to the new place! Here you'll find my older popular paintings and lots of new creations inspired by art from days gone by.
I am a wife and mama to two children, a couple of dogs, a handful of cats, a pair of rabbits and a flock of chickens. I live in a 'little town on the prairie' in northeastern Oklahoma, where my family has resided since statehood.
I LOVE to paint....and especially love 'old timey' pursuits. I have a fondness for knitting, and a chance encounter with a spinning wheel at an estate sale has made me a lover of fiber art in particular, and heritage crafts in general.
Painting is my passion, but I am often inspired by many people, places, faith, tradition and good books. A homebody by nature, I also love to go exploring in beautiful places from time to time. My favorites include the desert of Arizona and the historic beauty of New England. I am constantly inspired by history, the every day life of 'days gone by', and simple traditions of faith, family, and love.
I am an ardent admirer of the author/illustrator Tasha Tudor, who has inspired me to 'live the life I have imagined.' For me that means trying to enjoy the slow way of doing things;; homemade food, buying local when I can, knitting and (trying to!) sew, quilting, rug hooking, and spinning. I am not a proficient and I dont do these things everyday, but it is important to me to keep the memory of these skills alive to hand them down to a new generation.
And speaking of a 'new generation', In 2016 we delved into the world of home school for our oldest child, and I have learned so much in the process. A love of nature, art and good books is my main goal in this educational adventure we find ourselves on. And while our family and school life is the main focus of our days, I still find a little time to work on art pieces and craft projects, and share many of them here on my blog and also for sale in my shop.
I have also been so lucky as to be able to contribute to and also write my own books-- Snow on Martinmas--- which is now out through Xist Press!
It is my hope that my work will bring those that see it comfort, peace and joy. Thank you for visiting me here, and I hope you come by again soon!~ H
